ABOUT

Clement Kiragu National Geographic Explorer

About the Founder, a Wildlife Cameraman based in Kenya

Clement Kiragu is a Wildlife Cameraman based in Kenya, who, for the last year has been working and training as a JCO on National Geographic’s HOME Africa Series currently in production with BBC NHU. As part of his JCO role, he has managed a RED Helium + CN20 long lens full kit and a Cognisys Camera trapping system kit in the BBC Nairobi Kit Hub for one year. This KIT has been available for Clement to take on shoots as second camera while learning from world class DOP’s working on HOME Africa.

In the past year, he has trained and used the RED+CN20 Long lens kit, timelapse kit, Cable Cams, Gimbals, Sliders, Underwater rig, Cognisys camera trap system, and remote-controlled cameras to film special behaviour on multiple bluechip sequences for the HOME Africa Series.

In addition to the above training, Clement is a National Geographic Explorer, a graduate of the Natgeo Field Ready program and has been a wildlife photographer for over 10 years, mainly focusing on Big Cats. His National Geographic grant allowed him to kickstart his Wildlife Filmmaking career in 2022. It’s Clement’s belief that when used correctly, the art-forms of photography and cinematography have the power to change perspectives, transform lives, inspire generations, even heal communities from historical injustice. It’s Clement’s hope that he can use his artistic skills, his immense knowledge of Africa’s predators to produce stories that bring healing to African communities and promote human - predator coexistence.

Within 3 years of being in the Wildlife Filmmaking industry, Clement has demonstrated outstanding use of his patience & artistic interpretation of wildlife subjects, and his immense love for wildlife to capture special natural history behaviour for BBC NHU & PBS Nature productions.
